Vocational Resource: Hawaiʻi Career Pathways Website
Career advice is plentiful, but how much of it is relevant for us here in Hawai‘i? There are so many exciting emerging fields, and Hawai‘i Career Pathways can help find what’s in-demand now and in the future.
Hawai‘i is working on evolving its economy to provide more well-compensated, high-skill jobs for local people. That means we’ll need a workforce to fill slots in sectors like renewable energy, technology, data, digital media, health, and more.
This website is new and features up-to-date information based on what local employers and educators believe to be viable, in-demand careers, skills, and certifications. It ties in neatly with career pathways and career academies, so it’s never too early to check it out and line up high school classes with the pathway you want.
Recommendations are based on research conducted locally. Not sure what job you want, but want to feel pretty confident that there will be a job for you here that will pay a living wage? This is the site for you! Even if it’s too early to pick a career, you can get an idea of what kinds of skills and sectors are anticipated to be in high-demand by local employers.
There are pages for educators, businesses, parents, students, and adults looking to re-skill.
Hawai‘i Career Pathways is part of a partnership including Hawai‘i Chamber of Commerce, Department of Education Career and Technical Education, Workforce Development Council, Hawai‘i P-20, State Department of Education, Harold K. L. Castle Foundation, University of Hawai‘i, and State of Hawai‘i.
